Slot: 01:00.0
Class: VGA compatible controller [0300]
Vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] [1002]
Device: Amethyst XT [Radeon R9 M295X Mac Edition / R9 380X] [6938]
SVendor: PC Partner Limited / Sapphire Technology [174b]
SDevice: Amethyst XT [Radeon R9 M295X Mac Edition] [e308]
Rev: f1
NUMANode: 0

This is a Sapphire R9 380X Nitro and it based on a "Tonga XT" (aka Antigua XT). The SVendor and SDevice seem to be the same as for the Sapphire R9 380 Nitro.

We should sort chip codenames and marketing names correctly.

And we should still put Radeon in the beginning. Sorry for the omission.

I have a 1002:6938 (rev f1) device, but the description here doesn't match it. My card is not a Mac device. The description of 1002:6939 given here matches the card I have. Have the two device IDs been switched?

# lspci -n -s 01:00.0
01:00.0 0300: 1002:6938 (rev f1)

(Latest pciutils and hwids, on Gentoo)

The system builder (Armari) specifies "Sapphire Radeon R9 380 Nitro 4G D5 ATI Tonga PRO GPU" and their build process includes screen-shots of Windows 10 identifying it, so I'm reasonably sure this is the card I have.

I think the name means the M295X Mac, or any 380X (see above, that is what it was named originally). It is confusing indeed and besides I do not know why we have special "Mac edition" tags.
I'm also not seeing any subsystem relating this card to an Apple computer.

I'll come back to this soon.

I see the Mac edition's subsystem has just been added - thanks!
We don't need to confuse people here anymore for a device which is not Mac specific.

Thanks for clearing that up. The device and subsystem now match my boot-time dmesg entry:

[drm] initializing kernel modesetting (TONGA 0x1002:0x6938 0x174B:0xE308 0xF1).
